Device FAQ

All you need is a credit card, debit card, or mobile phone. Tap on the tiptap device. When you hear the first beep, it means that the device has recognized your transaction. When you hear the second beeps, it means that the transaction has gone through. Alternatively, you can make an online donation by clicking the “donate” button at the top of the site.

tiptap devices for this campaign currently accept Visa, Mastercard, Interac, and mobile payment such as Google Pay and Apple Pay. We do not accept American Express.

On average, the same card can be tapped up to 10 times, but it depends on the card.

During a successful transaction, the device will beep once upon initial card tap, then beep a second time to confirm the transaction within 10 seconds.

Our NFC reader is set to a proximity that requires a physical, card-to-unit tap that is held in place for a few seconds. This prevents any accidental charges or mistaps. For refunds; please reach out to solutions@tiptappay.com with your name, last 4 digits of your credit card number, location of tap, and if possible, the serial number of the tiptap device.

The only information collected by tiptap devices is the last 4 digits of your card and the time of transaction. That’s it. This information is transported on a private LTEm network which makes it just as secure as using a bank machine.

When devices register a change in the system they automatically send a tamper signal that shuts down the device. The inside of the device is filled with an acrylic potting which makes it impossible to change the physical hardware.

tiptap does not collect any personal information. All data is encrypted and protected in our private LTEm pipeline. Data gets validated when it fully passes through the secure server, and only after this occurs and validation is complete can a request be made to the processor to access the data. In short, very secure.

All devices can be remotely disabled. Also, all devices are secured and do not store the funds nor do they store personal information, so there is no need to worry about someone stealing a device to capture personal and banking information.
